Serving up summer: Wimbledon on the big screens!

After catching every kick, pass and celebration at The World Cup, and the laughs and tears at the Love Island final last year, we’ve brought the big screen back in the garden to serve every bit of the action for Wimbledon!

Taking place between July 1st – 14th, all the Wimbledon action will be live on the big screen in our botanical gin garden all fro free entry. Tennis fans will be to catch all the action from Wimbledon all the way through to the men’s and women’s quarter finals, semi finals and finals in Digbeth’s best known and much loved sun trap.

As well as soaking up the sun, trying our delicious new menu and sipping on one of our 30 botanical gins, we’ll be serving up strawberries by the punnet and pitchers of Pimm’s to complete the quintessentially British summer.

Wimbledon Live on the Big Screen is part of The Old Crown’s 12 Weeks of Summer event schedule, jam packed with something for everyone. From an Elton John themed party with Brum Tropicana to a Friends quiz and Poolside Strut, a brand new disco all-dayer. Plus, Birmingham’s best DJs will be here all weekend every weekend to soundtrack this huge summer. For more information on The Old Crown’s 12 Weeks of Summer, visit our  Facebook page. Keep your eyes peeled for more summer and giant screen events to be announced soon!

Wimbledon live on The Old Crown’s big screen takes place between July 1st – 14th and is free entry. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Tables can be reserved in advance by contacting The Old Crown.

The New Old Crown Menu is here!

New year, new Old Crown. As the weather (hopefully) gets warmer and Spring makes its way in, we decided to freshen up our menu ready for the rest of 2019, and we can’t wait for you to try our new recipes we’ve been working hard on in the kitchen. Here’s what we’ve cooked up just for you…

Light Bites

An after work snack or a warm up to the other courses, we thought the start should be as good as the main event. Traditional pub flavours come from our warm pork (or veggie) sausage roll with crackling and relish or crispy garlic prawns and scampi, whilst our antipasti misto and chicken and bacon caesar salad offer something lighter. Think you can handle the heat? Why not try our Korean crispy chicken wings or a kilo of buttermilk chicken wings? Finally, our roast pumpkin bruschetta and chilli bean pot are completely vegan friendly.

Sourdough Stone Baked Pizza

We’ve revitalised our pizza menu offering a range of toppings for our wood fired, stone baked sourdough pizzas. Choose from classic margherita, Latin BBQ, Italian meat feast and our veggie options florentine with a baked egg, baked garlic mushroom and a garden pizza with seasonal vegetables. All our pizzas can be made vegan by adding vegan mozzarella and garlic oil.

Pub Classics

We couldn’t forget the pub classics, those heart warming dishes for cold evenings that could only equate to a good quality pub. We’re talking proper fish and chips, bangers and mash, steak and ale pie and sirloin steak with all the trimmings. Of course we included a delicious vegan option of black bean, pumpkin and coconut curry too.

Burgers on Brioche

We’ve become well known in Digbeth for our hand crafted burgers, all served on a soft toasted brioche bun with fries. We’ve kept our OC burger with spiced Monterey jack cheese and salad for its classic and well loved flavour. It’s joined by the Tex Mexicana, a spicy double dipped chicken burger with guacamole. For those with a big appetite, the big pappa with double patty, salad and bacon or the surf and turf wars with crispy fried garlic prawns may hit the spot. The halloumi verde is perfect for veggies, whilst vegans can tuck into the crispy tofu burger with spiced shredded slaw and vegan cheese.

The Ultimate Sandwiches

Trust us when we say these sandwiches are a dinner time pursuit! Choose from three sizes of single, half or whole ciabatta. Beer soaked beef steak with wild mushrooms, crispy cod cheek with tartare sauce or grilled vegetables with beetroot houmous (vegan) are all on offer to dine alone or share with friends.

Food is served in The Old Crown from 12pm until 9pm Monday to Friday and 10pm on Saturday and 4pm Sunday. If you fancy breakfast or brunch, Cafe 1368 opens from 8am.
